Investigation of Characteristics of a Novel Torque Motor Based on an Annulus Air Gap

Although a two-dimensional (2D) valve has excellent performance, the processing of its spiral groove high cost and is time-consuming. This paper proposes novel torque motor based on an annulus air gap (TMAAG) to replace negative feedback function reduce machining difficulty. In order study change law TMAAG, permeance was analyzed, then qualitative analytical model established. Orthogonal tests were carried out initially select crucial parameters, which further optimized through back propagation (BP) neural network genetic algorithm. The prototype TMAAG machined, special experimental platform built, experiment results are similar simulation values, verifies accuracy analysis model. For torque-angle characteristics, output increases with both current rotation angle reaches about 0.754 N·m 2 A 1.5°. While for torque-displacement due mechanism, decreases increasing armature displacement, 0.084 1 mm. research validates unique mechanism indicates that it can be potentially used as electro-mechanical converter 2D valve.
